d-day from a 21st Century perspective

***
I WAS WONDERING HOW THE NEWS MEDIA MIGHT REPORT IT TODAY ...

... and how many people actually know of the sacrifices made by young men and women of free nations like the United States in preventing the forces of evil from taking over the world. So many of them never lived to have another hamburger, see a movie, kiss their sweethearts, attend a ballgame, have children, breath the fresh clean air of freedom. That some people consider us evil goes a long way in uncovering the level of ignorance and selfishness and hatred that exists in the world today.

I figure that the news programs would be blasting the military for the massive defeat at the hands of the Germans and the incredible loss of life in the first wave.

Of course the plans and locations for the invasion would already have been broadcast by CNN (since they are "neutral") so that the Germans would have already known the particulars of the invasion 24-48 hours ahead.

Reporters would be interviewing apple-cheeked German children in the cities and countryside, playing soccer and singing songs, showing us what peace-loving people our enemies really are.

Celebrities like Rosie and Sean Penn would be asking what those people ever did to us? saying that the Japanese (assuming Pearl Harbor wasn't an inside job) should have been the real focus of our retaliation ... but only after talking to them to find out why they are so angry with us.

The terrible weather on June 6 would be attributed to man-made global warming and socialists all over the world would argue that we only got what we deserved.

Congress would be blasting the president and threatening to de-fund the war, calling it HIS war and saying they support the troops and want to bring them home.

You get the idea. Actually someone else got the idea too, and I found this article while checking to see if anyone had:

God bless those brave men and women who pressed forward when every fiber of their body no doubt told them not too. Their bravery humbles me, as does the bravery of all who serve in the uniform of this country. I hope and pray your sacrifices will not prove to have been in vain.
