can ya dig it?

***
I SUPPOSE IF YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH
MOST ANYTHING WILL EVENTUALLY COME TO YOU

I've often wondered about the short 51 second clip Dig It that faded into Let It Be on the Beatles final album.

I seemed to remember that it was part of a jam session that was featured in the film and assumed it was just discarded or perhaps thrown into a box somewhere.

I got the urge to check it out tonight and found there is a long 8:28 version in both video and audio. It was fun to hear some primal three chord rock played by the Beatles I'd never heard before, and since I have several lj friends like April aspoor, Christine xinexine72, Katharine miss_kat_1968, and Marlene japanesedream, who I know are Beatles fans, I thought I'd put up the link to the audio for you. You probably already know about it (I'm kind of slow) but if you don't I hope you get a kick out of it. BTW, is that Yoko on the kazoo or just Yoko?

At the end of the song clip on the album, John says in falsetto, "That was 'Can You Dig It?' by Georgie Wood, and now we'd like to do 'Hark, The Angels Come'."

I looked him up and "Wee Georgie Wood" was a 4'9" music-hall performer and child star in England. What fun!

'Night all!

Always wondered what John was talking about with that falsetto bit. Another mystery of life solved - thanks! ^_^

Is there a URL for that audio link? My computer's just bringing up a lot of blank space where whatever you posted should be...

Oh dear, that's weird. It just worked for me.

Does this help?

Let me know if not.

By the way, did you ever check out my Wrong Trousers link, the quirky trio doing Video Killed the Radio Star? I love it? :-)

Ah. Well, it would work, you see, if I were able to get YouTube on my computer. I'm running on an old version of AOL & still using dial-up. One of these days, I'll get an upgrade. (I always said I would, when I got a "real" job.)

No, I didn't see that link. (How do I miss these things?) I'll have to check it out! Although if it's on YouTube, I'll have to wait a bit before I can see it...

I have dial-up too so I know what you mean. I stayed away from YouTube a long time but on occasion I'll watch/listen to something this way. I hit play and just do something else for about 10 minutes or whatever. After it's buffered, you can replay it over and over without it buffering again. Of course you can try someone else's computer if you prefer.

Here's the link for The Wrong Trousers.

I GUARANTEE you will not be able not to not smile if you check it out.
