stolen bases ... broken hearts

IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ONLY THE SECOND GAME IN
WHICH A TRIPLE STEAL OCCURRED IN BASEBALL HISTORY

Some of you may know I'm a big baseball fan and that I've been following the Cleveland Indians since I was a little kid.

Well, tonight I was following their game on-line and, as they've been in a season long hitting slump, I was happy they erupted for eight runs in knocking off the Pale Hose tonight 8-2.

What's more, the Tribe was credited with a triple steal in the sixth inning!

That is a very rare feat. In fact, in the entire history of Major League baseball, I think it was done only once before (twice in the same game actually) by the Philadelphia Athletics against these same Cleveland Indians way back in 1930.

Dave Delluci stole home, Grady Sizemore stole third, and Jamey Carroll stole second. It was pretty wild. It goes to show that if you stick around long enough and watch enough baseball, you'll eventually see something that you've never seen before.

Yeah, a steal of home is such an exciting play. Doing so with the bases loaded and two outs in a triple steal is a cherry on top of icing on the cake!
