AFTER ALL THE BUILDUP ... WATCH THE AIR GO OUT OF THE BALOON WITH THE FIRST WORDS OUT OF PRESIDENT OBAMA'S MOUTH

Gives you a lot of confidence, doesn't it?

Oh, come on! We can give him a pass for being in over his head. No one can live up to all the hype.

Plus, he actually had to "repeat after me" and didn't have the luxury of a teleprompter.

After all the scandals and missteps during the transition (the wacky appointments and Cabinet nominations, Richardson, Emanuel, Geithner, Clinton, Holder, Napolitano, Daschle, Browner, Panetta, et al, the emerging scandals, fibbing to the press about Blagojevich, etc., could we expect anything less?

Oh well, it's all out of my eye and earshot since this is a TV-free day for me.

What am I doing?

I call it:

Quite a spread, huh?

That's a Ham and Cheese Po-Boy for obvious reasons.

A bottle of local beer.

Some videos (I'm watching Raising Arizona as I type and later will watch the first episode of The Prisoner in honor of Patrick McGoohan who passed away a few days ago).

A bunch of comics from my collection - including vintage 70's Action comics when comics were still whimsical, real comics, and cost 20-30 cents an issue, to celebrate the real Superman.

My Mickey Mouse alarm clock to record the time of the inaguration oath (set to EST).

From the comments I just heard on local radio, the speeches and prayers seem to be downers more than anything. I'll have to check in a few days. I'm recording the Inaguration even though I'm not watching it. I do feel pretty upbeat in spite of the impending disaster. I've faced and survived disasters before, as many of you know.

There's comfort in knowing you can take care of yourself and lend a helping hand to others if necessary.

Oh, I do have that Pepto Bismol because the next four years will definitely require it. Maybe that will be a good stock buy. Do you think?

childish things
So, you did your part in spreading the wealth around? ;-)

Yeah, my nephews loved when I read to them from my old comics. They especially liked Worldd's Finest when Superman and batman teamed up.

Number Six? Haha! We think alike.

I was actually planning on starting a little parody of The Prisoner, updating it to portray someone remarkably like me who gets picked up and sent to a re-eduction camp. :-D

Yeah, you've seen my table before, haven't you? Too bad I didn't have everyone over so I could make four full size Po-boys and two mini's.
