MY GOD! IS THIS ALL REALLY HAPPENING?

Did you see or hear the president's latest "press conference"?

I just can't stand to watch this man anymore. And he is everywhere. Every day! He never stops talking, and no one will ask him an intelligent question. And when he is asked any question, he just rambles on and on and on ... and never answers the question.

And the reporters gaze fondly upon him grinning like idiots.

And the truth is nowhere near his mouth ... nor his teleprompter.

I heard his speech on the radio and even then I soon became nauseous. How did 52.7% of the voters ever buy into this absolute nonsense?

Everything is rush, rush, rush with this guy ... yeah, hurry up before anyone realizes what's happening. All he knows how to do is run for office. He's never actually done anything, or actually run anything. And now he thinks he knows how to run everything.

What hath Pandora wrought? Everything this guy touches turns to manure. Seriously! Everything!

I rarely drink, but I need a beer or something.

My God!

I just started re-reading Brave New World the other day.
:-)

A nice passage near the end, when told by The Controller about V.P.S. treatments, the Savage says:

"But I like the inconveniences."

"We don't, " said the Controller. "We prefer to do things comfortably."

"But I don't want comfort. I want God. I want poetry. I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin."

"In fact," said Mustapha Mond, "you're claiming the right to be unhappy."

"Al right then," said the Savage defiantly, "I'm claiming the right to be unhappy."

"Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have syphilis and cancer; the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind." There was a long silence.

"I claim them all," said the Savage at last.

Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. "You're welcome," he said.

I find it profoundly disturbing how easily so many people can be led to accept that which will poison them, but encouraged that there are still people around who will stand up and resist treachery, even at great personal cost.
