another metaphorsbwithu song parody

BANJO I AM MOURNING ... NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF TAKING WHAT'S NOT YOURS AND HOW A LIFE CAN BE FOREVER CHANGED

Who has never felt loss? And who knows what chain of events can result in one act of thoughtlessness, carelessness, covetousness, and greed? A loved one, a possession, a part of us can get ripped away in an instant, and how that can completely change our world. The song, from Angel in the Morning by Juice Newton, speaks for itself.

THEY STOLE MY BANJO I'M IN MOURNING

My brand new strings lie on my bed
I’ll never pick and grin again
There’s no need to lose my head
It was not I committed sin
But still I get down on my knees
My tears are dried; God hear my pleas.

They stole my Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
I feel so weak without you near me … Banjo
They took you Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
They cruelly stole my joy … from me

The Opry’s bright lights they will fade
There’ll be no duelin’ anymore
In grassy meadows let me lay
Among my long lost friends of yore
And though I’ll never reach those heights
My soul will soar up through the night

They stole my Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
I feel so weak without you near me … Banjo
They took you Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
They cruelly stole my joy
You were more than a toy … to me

I’ll throw my fears away
No more tears … Bahn-Ahn-Ahn-Jo!

They stole my Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
I feel so weak without you near me … Banjo

They took you Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
I feel so weak without you near me … Banjo
They took my Banjo; I’m in mourning … Banjo
I feel so weak without you near me … Banjo

(Repeat and fade)

Hold on to life and love. Don't throw them away, and never let anyone take them away.

That's very amusing! Odd, but amusing! *grin*

You wouldn't, by chance, be familiar with the term "filk"?

I tend to have that effect on people, W. But then most of what I write is some kind of metaphor. ;-)

No, I'd never heard of "filk" until now. Perhaps my song parodies She's Always a Planet to Me, Falling Bolt, My Neu-ron-rons and Czars would qualify?

I think that they would! BTW, do you play an instrument?

Unfortunately not. It's sad because I seem to hear music and rhythms everywhere I go. I do own a guitar and can strum a few chords very badly to entertain myself. :-D

I said the same thing after reading a song parody of American Pie. I told the two writers I could hear the actual lyrics in my head. Fiddlegirl, one of the writers, said she heard sounds in her head too but they weren't musical. :-D
