THIS IS GETTING TO BE EMBARRASSING ... I HAVE A FEELING THESE PICTURES ARE GOING TO BE SCRUBBED ONE DAY - PLUS, REMEMBERING CLINTON'S "NOT A BOW BOW

Look, we've had the Hillary "reset" debacle in Russia and her doing that crouching dance in Africa.

We've had the president bowing to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia (despite the White House telling us not to believe our lying eyes), then we have the President dissing the UK by giving a CD collection that didn't work in England and then playing touch-feely with the Queen.

Pick any Joe Biden appearance for a gaffe-a-minute (how about when he noted that the stimulus money that was going toward an AMTRACK tunnel was designed for car traffic?).

Now we have the President bowing down to the waist AND shaking hands with Japanese Emperor Akihoto:

Obama Screws Up Rules of Etiquette on Multiple Levels

ObamaBowsAgain

I wonder how the White House will answer the question of what the heck this president is doing? What explanation will they give this time?

Jet lag?

The first time I met a young Japanese woman I'd met I asked what the proper way of greeting and addressing her would be. I'd heard you don't shake hands and the customary greeting was to nod slightly with your hands at your thigh.

The young lady was very gracious and indicated most Japanese were aware of American customs and didn't take great offense if Americans were a little less formal, etc.

However, this president is really too much and I wonder how many people outside the United States are laughing up their sleeves ... or right out loud.

You'd think this administration would get it right for these formal high-level meetings. You don't shake hands AND bow, and you don't bow halfway down to the floor as if you are a lowly servant.

What? It's not a big thing? Hhmmmm ... that's not what my memory tells me.

I remember when there was a big to-do when Pres. Clinton almost bowed to Akihoto in 1994. The NYT quickly wrote an article defending Clinton's behavior entitled:

THE WORLD; The President's
Inclination: No, It Wasn't a Bow-Bow

It wasn't a bow, exactly. But Mr. Clinton came close. He inclined his head and shoulders forward, he pressed his hands together. It lasted no longer than a snapshot, but the image on the South Lawn was indelible: an obsequent President, and the Emperor of Japan.

Bill Clinton denied bowing to Emperor in 1994

Wow! Not a "bow bow?" You mean like, it depends on what the meaning of "is" is?

Wow! We've sure come a long way in 15 years, haven't we? How low can we go?

Just for fun, how about a little Bow Wow Wow?

Bow Wow Wow: I Want Candy

Whoa! It's getting warm in here! Oh for the good old days!

Have a fun night!

The weird thing about this is that the President has plenty of people to consult on issues of protocol. Why does he keep screwing this sort of thing up so badly? Is he too arrogant to admit that he doesn't know how to behave in these situations, and get help?

Amateurs.

Exactly! You'd think they'd consult SOMEONE to go over things like this. Of course I am no Obama fan, but this is almost pitiful to see, and I feel like we're piling on. Although the
ridicule is so deserved, it is embarrassing for our country and the Office of the President.

That said, the devil is in the details and this guy is into the big picture only.

Those world leaders - they should make a blooper real some day.

that's about how serious that was

Well at any rate - thanks for the post of Annabella Lwin - She is easy on the eyes...

Re: Bow-ack O-bow-ma
I have two takes on this subject.

1) I almost feel sorry about this guy because he seems to be so clueless.

2) On second thought, his words, actions, behavior and attitude toward this country is appalling, and this "gaffe" is but one more example of a recurring pattern of words and deeds in which he has shown disrespect and disdain for every aspect of this country BO (before Obama).
