THE GREAT CAROL HANEY IN ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE MUSICAL NUMBERS FROM THE PAJAMA GAME

My friend arianadii mentioned how my previous post made her want to dance.

I know the feeling. I'm not a good dancer, but there are some songs and musicals that really do get me in the mood.

My favorite dancer of all time is Carol Haney, who only had one real speaking part in movies, the character Gladys Hotchkiss in the film The Pajama Game.

I just love the way she moves. She was so unique as a dancer, and choreographer, so identifiable in her style, and I can never get enough of her ... unfortunately there isn't much out there.

Along with Steam Heat and Once a Year Day from the same film, Hernando's Hideaway is still among my favorite numbers of all time.

Here it is, the scene where the new foreman, played by John Raitt (Bonnie's father) tries to con Gladys out of the key to the safe where the accounting books are hidden. Watch it before it's taken down. Choreography by, of course, Bob Fosse:

What fun, huh?
