OBAMA 'GREATER THAN JESUS' EDITORIAL BEGS COMPARISON OF BEATLES 'MORE POPULAR THAN JESUS' COMMENT

Over the last two years, there have been many who dared elevate first candidate then elected President Barack Obama to divine status.

A Danish newspaper has now elevated that argument of Obama's "Savior-hood" to official cult status:

Obama Greater Than Jesus?

Of course I was immediately reminded of the time John Lennon made the infamous "We're more more popular than Jesus now" quote, a comment I have always felt was treated rather unfairly since he was, in my opinion, simply observing a peculiarly unsettling and ironic characteristic of celebrity in the madness and frenzied climate in which they existed.

John Lennon - "We're more popular than Jesus now."

Not so when it comes to Obama. These people are totally serious! And immediately after Christmas yet! Which reminds me. Can you imagine the reaction had they asserted that Obama was greater than Muhammad? Oh well, that's another question for another time, isn't it?

That said, could this new "official" pronouncement by the Danish newspaper, Politiken be a prophetic utterance?

Let me explain.

Lennon originally made that statement in an interview with Maureen Cleave of Datebook magazine in March of 1966.

As all Beatles aficionados know, the last time they played together was at the disastrous Let It Be recording session in January of 1969!

That's approximately 2 years and 10 months after Lennon's comment, an eternity to the Beatles at that time but, in retrospect, a remarkably brief flash of stardust in the whole scheme of things.

Now, here we are at the end of 2009, over 40 years later, and the Danish newspaper Politiken declares: "Obama Greater Than Jesus: The U.S. President - the practical saviour of our times."

Fast forward 2 years and 10 months. That puts our time-line the week before the 2012 Presidential election.

Will history repeat itself? Will President Obama, assuming he decides to run again for the presidency, find his act wearing thin, along with the electorate, and begin to realize the collection of ideologues and radicals he patched together is disintegrating before his very eyes?

One hopes he will decide to let it be and not to start running around helter skelter creating more mischief.

And hopefully there will still be enough of this country left to salvage after the excesses of this administration and the out-of-control Democrat Congress.

And perhaps, I hope, the outrageously shameful, biased and agenda-driven news media, which have become part of the problem rather than perform as the watchdog they are supposed to be, will have been delegated to the dust-bin of journalistic history.
