seven weeks … 49 days after nine-eleven

AFTER A SEEMING ETERNITY OF APPREHENSION AND WONDER WHETHER THINGS
WOULD EVER RETURN TO NORMAL IN THIS LAND WE PROUDLY CALL AMERICA

President George W. Bush, the Commander-in-Chief, strode out to the mound at Yankee Stadium on October 30, 2001 before the third game of the World Series IN New York City, dressed in the uniforms of the New York Fire and Police Department, and delivered a perfect strike for honor, freedom, courage, love of country, respect for and tribute to so many brave souls who sacrificed at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania, and, of course, the American Way:
