FROM CHILDHOOD I HAVE BEEN A GREAT ADMIRER OF A GREAT HUMAN BEING ...
BILL COSBY … BUT TODAY, HIS AWFUL WORDS HAVE CUT ME TO THE QUICK

In an interview with NBC‘s David Gregory which was excerpted on this morning’s Meet the Press, Cosby branded the people who have disagreed with President Obama “anti-American”.

He likened the president, who he said took on problems of epic proportions, to Albert Camus’’ Sisyphus, condemned by the gods to forever push a huge bolder up a mountain - only to have it roll down again when he reached the top.

Over and over and over ...

Now that in itself is ironic, since Camus’ primary assertion, as anyone who has taken introduction philosophy knows, is that life is absurd.

In fact. One of the main examples of the absurd life is that of the ruler, the politician, and the revolutionary.

And our only real option, outside of suicide and a "leap of faith" is to simply go along with the premise that life is meaningless.

You see, Camus would probably agree with me that masterminds have no answers … only solutions that are absurd. Cosby, on the other hand, would have us take turns pushing the giant boulder endlessly up that hill … by force if necessary - because Cosby
s "leap of faith" coronates Barack Obama as the only man to bring meaning and happiness and prosperity to the world.

How absurd ... to think a cadre of left-wing authoritarian utopian masterminds have the power to create a "one size fits all" system to create and introduce universal happiness. And if you don't accept their prescription ... well, you are branded a bigot and racist and traitor who must be rooted out and punished.

I don’t fault Mr. Cosby for his absurd metaphor, nor for believing in The One. Like most of us, he is captive of his experiences and subject to the information he consumes. Like most of us he can be wise and foolish depending on the circumstances … and his willingness to weigh the facts on the scales of his intellect. And his desire to solve exceedingly complex problems ... by hook or crook.

But Mr. Cosby has, in this instance, already made up his mind, as he did when the media first began advancing those lies about the nature of the president’s critics, people who dissented from what they saw as a huge bait-and-switch, a massive lurch to the left, the unbridled unleashing of massive spending and the growth of centralized government.

He deemed them, and the media helped him form his opinions, as bigots and racists.

Now, today, he repeats the canard that his adversaries simply wanted him to fail … and for reasons he sees through his color-tinted glasses. Not that anyone wanted him to fail in advancing his ideology, but that they wanted America to fail so as to bring him down.

No, Mr. Cosby, that is what people who hate America as constituted do. They are all around us. They speak to you in admiring and hushed tones to appropriate your considerable influence.

And I’m so sorry you don’t see that because you are a good and thoughtful man.
