gulp! ... the soda wars in nyc

***
BIG BROTHER BLOOMBERG WILL SAY WHEN YOU’VE HAD ENOUGH

Many of the liberals in the media cheer ... and wonder, like CNN, why their viewership is shrinking to all-time lows.

Starting in March, if New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg has his way, restaurants, stores, movie concessions, delis, mobile vendors, etc. will only be able to sell you sugared drinks (excluding dairy and fruit drinks by the serving and bottled soft drinks) in 16 oz. cups.

No big cup for you, Cowbow! THE GOVERNMENT says it's bad for you so you can't have any more.

Have a chocolate malt instead ... and a donut.

See how it starts with small things and, once they’ve got you bowing down their dictates on things like salt, sugar, light bulbs, toilets, etc., they can move on to more and more intrusive demands and limitations in our personal lives?

I’ve said it before … these people want to control each and every aspect of your life, and they will appropriate and exercise the power to do so regardless of their actual authority.

Bloomberg’s rationale is chilling:

“We're simply FORCING you to understand..."

You have to be FORCED to behave properly ... as defined by the people YOU empower to govern in a limited lawful manner.

For the record, I don’t drink sugared drinks, don’t smoke, limit my salt … on my own.

I don’t need a nanny state government, however, to FORCE me to do what it thinks is right.

If Mayor Bloomberg is concerned about weight gain and health issues, I’d suggest he start with the people whose salaries and perks are subsidized by the taxpayers … his administration, the teachers and librarians, the city bureaucracy, then the county and state officials and public sector workers.

Again and again we hear about the outrageous intrusions into our lives that come from the left … those obnoxious busybodies who want to tell everyone else what to do while they basically remain immune and exempt from the demands and limitations they place on the rest of us … the ones who pay to keep them in their cushy jobs with their tidy salaries and almost unlimited perks and entitlements.

From where have we come with a government that says it's perfectly okay to kill an unborn child because it's a girl, but it's illegal to purchase a 32 oz. root beer?

Anyone up for some sweet tea … a BIG GULP maybe?
