A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR AWAY, A BUNCH OF STAR WAR GEEKS SENT A PETITION TO THE WHITE HOUSE TO BUILD A 'DEATH STAR' AND GOT A TONGUE-IN-CHEEK RESPONSE

That is the 'rest of the story' untold in articles and commentary I've seen here and elsewhere about the recent "Death Star" petition.

It is refreshing to note that someone who handles these petitions that cross the threshold of required signatures has a sense of humor in the White House response.

HOWEVER, as always, the greatest humor lies in the reality of the situation. For example:

Read the reactions of people, especially in the foreign press, who actually take this seriously and take "pot shots" at Americans as war-mongering, weapon-loving, out-of-control maniacs seeking to destroy civilization.

It's a joke, dumb-dumbs.

Also, consider the White House response citing the administration's concern with lowering the national debt - not raising it by the $850,000,000,000,000,000 it would require to build the Death Star.

They night just as well used 850 gazillion dollars to really be funny, but in using a theoretically real amount they left themselves open to my quick wit.

This is funny on several levels.

1) I'll bet not one in a hundred people know that that figure represents 850 quadrillion dollars or 850 thousand trillion! You can tell even reporters don't know when they talk about the "hundreds of billions of dollars" it'd cost to build it. (You'd think you could build a Death Star by the amount it takes to subsidize unemployment benefits)

2) Imagine the hilarity of the administration EVER seriously claiming to address debt reduction, an administration which tackles debt with ideas like:

a) Borrowing and spending more money.
b) Minting trillion dollar coins.
c) Allowing the president to ignore the Constitution and bypass Congress, the only legal authority for appropriating money, and simply borrow whatever he wants.

Now THAT'S funny!

Come to think of it, aside from the "destroy planets" angle, why not build a Death Star for the good of the economy. Think of all the high-paying unionized labor it wouls take.

Maybe the AFL-CIO, UAW, NEA, SEIU, etc. should get on the Death Star bandwagon with a petition of their own.

After all, all Obama has to do is mint 850,000 trillion dollar coins and borrow the rest to slip under the table for his campaign bundlers and supporters.

Death Star in 2016!

Hilllary Clinton and Joe Biden may be passing up a golden opportunity to add the flake vote to their already wacky constituency after Obama moves up to become Master of the Universe.

Oh, and ... May the farce be with you!
