Time to Rock'n Roll ...

I slowed my pace a bit yesterday (even more *lol*) and went to do a couple of errands. I cut my grass again (half-way), went to the bank, got some gas and aired my tires, picked up a new broom, and got that last last last bundle of shingles I needed to finish my ridge caps.

I saw an old acquaintance there and we both had to wait for a manager because of problems with our purchases. Actually, I could have been out of there in no time but the bundle I bought was the last in that particular Home Depot (I usually go to the other one in Gretna) and it was busted open with some damage to the ones on top. I only needed about 10 out of the 27 in the bundle but waited anyway for Carlos to come and help us. It took forever but I got $4 off and that was almost 2/3's of the price of the broom I bought at WalMart and I got to chat with my old friend.

I put a few caps up yesterday evening and intended on doing the rest this morning but we got some rain so I'll have to wait for things to dry out. However, at WalMart, I bought one of my childhood favorites, a Jack's Rock'n Roll cookie:

Jack's was the biggest cookie manufacturer in Louisiana at one time, maybe still is, and now distributes a lot of other cookies too. Why the name Rock'n Roll? Who knows? It was probably created when rock 'n' roll was in its infancy and maybe they thought it was cool. I used to like to say, "I wanna rock'n roll" when I was a kid and they are pretty tasty ... kind of like a ginger snap with a little molasses flavor and a thin pinkish sugar glaze on top. They're rectangular with little rounded edges and about 10 small holes throughout which make them easier to bite off pieces. I think the glaze used to be a little thicker and the cookie was much bigger too. Anyway, it's nice to have these little reminders of my youth still around to fall back on once in a while.

I'm deciding what to do today, whether to try to clean up some of this mess I've created, do some weed-eating and finish cutting my grass, straighten out my kitchen, maybe see a movie. It's just nice knowing I at least have a roof over my head and don't half to climb into my attic and check all my rooms to see if I have any leaks when it rains.

You're always something special to me
Quite independent never caring
You lost your charm as you were aging
Where is your magic disappearing?

Hey Carrie Anne
What's your game now
Can anybody play?
