IT'S BEEN ALMOST TEN YEARS SINCE YOU'RE GONE - IT'S LIKE YOU NEVER LEFT

Daniel was the apple of my eye, my shadow, my little buddy. He thought I was so very clever, funny, and smart. No one to this day laughs as hard as he did, and no one can make me smile as happily. The twinkle in my eye, in large part, came from him, and thinking of all our fun times, and the love he gave to everyone never fail to bring me joy:

Crabbin' in Jean Lafitte

Daniel

We miss him very very much. These tears flow so freely because he is still so loved. I feel very fortunate and blessed to have been a part of his too-short life. The day when we can all be together again will be very sweet.

My little Snowman icon is a picture of a snowman the two of us made during our last "major" snowfall here in 1989. It was only about 24 inches tall but we were rather proud of it. The Saints "Who Dat?" cap got a lot of laughs. The temperature that winter dropped to a low of 9 degrees F, and it was about 18 degrees when this picture was taken. Our hands were like ice, even with gloves, but we did the best we could. Daniel would have been only 30 years old today. Our adventures would certainly fill a very large book.

Thanks Kat. Yep, we had many adventures, real and imagined. He loved to hear me tell stories, many made up on the moment, and he would correct me if I mistold any old ones he'd asked me to tell again.

He sure was. He was a little pouty in this photo because he was tired and didn't want to take a picture. One day I'll put up a couple more. I have to shoot them directly from the originals. :)

He sounds like a great kid and I am so sorry that you lost him. I am glad that you can at least take comfort in your memories; I'm sure he would have wanted that.

Yes he was and we do. He was working so hard to carve out a life for himself when the accident happened. Only 20. His older brother was killed too. It was devastating.

That is truly awful. I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Just know that you have friends who care about you, and we are always here.

I probably shouldn't ask but...
What happened to him? He's a cutey. =) Like that little expression on his face.

Re: I probably shouldn't ask but...
He was a little tired and didn't feel like taking a picture. I have many many pics from over the years. He was the most beautiful child you could imagine.

It's okay to ask. I wrote about this last year. He was only 20 and was working two jobs. His truck had been stolen at his night job. He was pretty down about having to beg rides everywhere, and his older brother brought him to Subway to cheer him up. On the way back home they were both killed in a freak accident near home involving an 18-wheeler.

I loved the story of the snow... and I am so sorry for the loss... not even ten years would make that seem further away then yesterday.

E and I have been somewhat blessed in these regards.

Kind thoughts...
