Well, the Dems favorite punching bag is taking a break. I just heard the President Bush’s political adviser, Karl Rove, is leaving his position 16 months before the President’s term is up. He must feel things are pretty much smooth sailing from here on.

I’ll be anxious to see the comments on LJ and elsewhere. Most people hate this guy and I’ll bet the vast majority of them aren’t sure why except that they’re always hearing bad things about him. I’ll tell you why most Democrat leaders hate him though. He’s outsmarted them strategically and intellectualy for 14 years and radical Democrat hacks always try to destroy those they hate, those who better them, and especially those who expose who they are.

Think about it. What do you know that he’s done? No, don’t research to see what moveon.org and media matters says, what do you know? Oh, you just heard how sneaky, malicious, and secretive he is, and how he considers himself "above the law". It's what you imagine him to be, isn't it? Image is everything ... how else can you explain how the Clintons retain such a fanatical base, and continue to accumulate support from some younger "voters" who know little or nothing about current event, politics, or history.

It’s funny - I heard Chris Matthews having one of his increasingly tiresome rants talking about Bush and Rove on The Today Show. It’s not the rants that are tiresome, but the lack of any substantive background based in reality. Pasty white face aflame, he spouted the usual litany of talking points, among them that Rove got Bush elected by exploiting the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

By the way Chris, Mr. Genius, Waxman can go after Rove all he wants ... Executive Privilege doesn't end because Rove left his White House position. Of course, knowing you worked for President Jimmy Carter, I'm assuming you wouldn't know stuff like that.

Now, some of you who simply swallow talking points nodding your head may not know it, but Bill Clinton wasn’t running against George W. but Al Gore, who did, did not run on Clinton’s record and politely kept Bill at arm’s length. The Lewinsky scandal was never an issue and the campaign actually set the example of the “new tone” that Bush “tried” to establish with the new Congress, even promoting Ted Kennedy’s school bill during the opening weeks of his term. Gore loss the electoral vote which is how we elect presidents. We are a Federal Republic and if you've forgotten your high school civics, check back and refresh yourself on the subject. Bill Clinton won with 43% of the vote, although no one in the media will ever remind you of that.

No, the best the Dems have been able to do is trap Scooter Libby into a “process crime” during an investigation of what is STILL a non-crime - the “outing” of CIA operative Valerie Plame. The next has been their relentless to trap someone else into some discrepancy to try to prosecute another White House aide for the LEGAL firing of 8 U.S. Attorneys. The Congress has been so far over their bounds regarding the separation of powers, although watching the news will have you believe that when the executive is forced into declaring Executive Privilege, it is the President that is ignoring the Constitution. That is not unusual since I’ll wager not one in ten of the media has ever read the Constitution and that probably includes the Congress as well … at least counting the mere party hacks. Pretty Pathetic when you consider the spectacle of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. having to resign from a Military Appropriations subcommittee when it is learned that companies owned by her husband have made BILLIONS in military contracts and there is NOT A WORD of inquiry in the mainstream media!

Oh, while I’m thinking of it, the Marines who were accused by Rep. John Murtha, D-Penn. of “cold-blooded” murder of Iraqi civilians in Haditha (Lance Cpl. Justin L. Sharratt, 22, and Capt. Randy Stone, 35, were recently exonerated. Read the original story here:

Where is the media now? Shouldn’t they be camping out at Murtha's front door asking if he’s going to apologize for his rush to judgment, for running his mouth to make political hay, without even knowing the details, and whether there was any forensic evidence to support the claims of the accusers?

Of course not … people like Murtha and Feinstein are the good guys - to the media. You wouldn’t even know there’s another viewpoint had you not read these words, had you indeed read these words. I wouldn’t doubt that Citizen Rove will be hounded and pursued even now so stay tuned. Einstein, I believe, said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. And so the insanity of this political merry-go-round continues, calliope keeps playing, the fools keep snapping their fingers to the beat, and the burden of safeguarding our existence falls to our young soldiers, our best and brightest, and to the people who truly care.

P.S.- The Congress has finally given the government what it needs to moniter calls from and between suspected terrorists based overseas. After all of the late night jokes and outrageous misinformation about Bush "spying" on Americans (don't these people ever fact check?), the Dems have finally realized they don't want to be on the wrong side of history yet again. There will still be FISA oversight of the surveillance program, but intelligence officials will be able to listen to selected cell phone calls without having to run to some judge for permission in the middle of the night. Yes their will be safeguards and yes, a healthy skepticism is necessary when it comes to trusting the government. HOWEVER, this Cajun boy has enough sense to realize that in matters of our very survival, the scales have to tip ever so slightly when it comes to protecting potentially hundreds of thousands of lives from harm or death.

Oh, and give me the names of 10 innocent American whose right have been violated since The Patriot Act was enacted and I'll eat a Hubig's Pie in your honor. Wait, I'll take five ... or three ... okay, how about just one. Funny I've never heard of any cases on CNN or CSNBC though. ;-)

Hillary Clinton voted AGAINST it if you must know and Barack Obama sneaked away rather than have to vote one way or the other. I think they should be reminded of this over and over. Explain yourselves you guys.

Farewell to Nova Scotia, the sea-bound coast,
Let your mountains dark and dreary be
When I'm far away, on the briny ocean tossed,
Will you ever heave a sigh or a wish for me?

The sun was setting in the West
The birds were singing on every tree
