I haven’t eaten anything with trans fat since I was out of college. It was called “hydrogenated fats” back then, a process necessary to keep things like margarine and Crisco “hard”. I used to call it plastic food.

Maybe that’s why I always appear so happy and healthy. *lol* That and the fact that I fix myself a nice breakfast once every month or so. Here’s a quick “Trans Fat Free” breakfast I threw together this morning:

Bacon and Eggs with Skillet

Trans Fat Free!

Funny things I hear that come out of the mouths of babes
- A lady recounted an incident the other day when her little boy came running into her kitchen after burping and said, “Mommy, I pooted out of my mouth!” *lol* You gotta love kids!

My “leftist” Louisiana friends and acquaintances (there are a few) look so depressed. When I ask them about Hillary’s flip-flop on the war again (not to mention Kerry’s recent statements, etc.), they pretend they don’t know anything about them and/or change the subject, explaining that they don’t have time to keep up with that stuff. The election is so far away, they say, and all this talk is just talk. Bush lied and people died. You know the mantra. Nothing will change their mind anyway, even about issues they know little or nothing about. They watch CNN, you know.

Here's another flip-flop they probably missed:

Their faces still look so sad though, and their eyes dart away so self-consciously. Maybe they don’t really follow this stuff, but they ACT as though this is all important to them. I mean, they blame Bush for everything so they must be concerned about something. I know a lady whose daughter (married) got pregnant and she blamed Bush for that. *lol* Honest!

I do look to see what the bloggers have to say about the Hsu/Hillary/DNC fund-raising scandals, the reactions of the Democrat candidates to the rising voices of mainstream America which has expressed its dissatisfaction with the “ideals” of the far-left. The candidates are subtley and cautiously moving away from those far-left principles which they have previously embraced, especially surrendering in Iraq, and the bloggers are remarkably silent. It's just the same old, “Yeah, those bad old Republicans …”, etc. Maybe the talking points haven’t been formulated yet. Me? I like to develop an opinion before I hear what other people say, then consider their viewpoints.

I do try to remain solid and consistent in my own views, open but aware of the game that is going on. I know there are some of you out there that are perhaps conflicted by all this. I know the habit is just to pretend it isn’t happening and concentrate on something else but it would be much better for your own physical and mental health to actually see things for what they are.

We’ve all been manipulated and betrayed to a certain extent. Once should be enough though to make you open your eyes. I remember so well the feeling when I was first betrayed by a girlfriend. It wasn’t fun and I carried that hurt for several years. I finally saw her a long time after that and, as you might guess, I was so grateful I wasn’t the one following her glumly in the supermarket.

So start seeing these politicians for what they are, listen to your inner voice, and stop trying to explain away everything that comes from their mouths you know is so obviously warped and condescending. If it sounds to good to be true, as they say, it probably is. Just think for yourself and beyond yourself once in a while and think what’s good for this country those who will inherit what we sow. There are people who sacrificed greatly for us too, you know.

So take responsibility for your life friends. And have a nice breakfast every so often, or better yet, for that special person who puts up with you. It’ll be just as nice. ;-)

Him and his daddy used to sit inside
And circle the blue fields and grease the night.
It was if someone had spread butter on all the fine points of the stars
'Cause when he looked up they started to slip.
Then he put his head in the crux of his arm
And he started to drift, drift to the belly of a ship,
Let the ship slide open, and he went inside of it
And saw his daddy 'hind the control board streamin' beads of light,
He saw his daddy 'hind the control board,
And he was very different tonight
'Cause he was not human, he was not human.
