le grenier sans rêves

I was going to put up another picture showing my "progress" today, but it takes me so much time to upload I thought I'd just keep the first pic. Actually, by 7 p.m. I'd completely covered the Northern side of the roof (left) with tongue-and-groove and three-quarters of that with tar paper.

I've still got some tongue-and-groove which I ripped out but it takes so long to nail them up. Since they're old, they are fairly warped and I have to go along with a make-shift lever and try to force it back so that the tongue fits into the groove with one hand, then try to nail it into place with the other.

Everything is like that when you're working alone - you're constantly going up and down, back and forth for stuff, trying to figure out how to do a four-handed task with two hands. Still, I like the challenge and it's kind of amazing what you can do when you think about it, taking one wobbly step at a time. I know when I take a finished pic it'll be like, "How the heck did I do that?" *LOL*

Anyway, here's that pic I posted earlier today:

Like I alluded to earlier, I've been thinking about how this might be a nice lesson for kids in how sticking to a plan will eventually get results. Of course, results are still a long way off and there are lots of aches and pains, but it's really fun if you've got the patience and the vision. The wind and rain and illness and the initial smirks of doubters and all the other obstacles and setbacks get you down once in a while, but you just keep going ahead, doing something that has to be done, even if you can't always get to what you'd like to do.

Okay, warming up some spaghetti I made yesterday (I know, how do I find the time). *LOL* Hey, I told you we Louisiana men dance to a different beat ... and tomorrow is still another day.

P.S. You should see the mound of spaghetti I made myself. Too obscene! No dessert for me tonight!! *lol*

It was chili spaghetti, too ... with lotsa gravy. I had some again today. Maybe Gitta can make some, but I don't think it'd be as good with ground turkey. I might try that once, though. I had a turkey burger once that was pretty tasty ... of course I had them put extra mayo.

Unfortunately, Gitta doesn't like pasta.

Wow .. no spatzle (sp?) even, with cheese or sausages? I'm surprised. Maybe it's a wheat thing. Ask her if she's ever made onion pie. We had a nice German restaurant in NO, Kolbs that closed about 7-8 years ago. I miss them.

Giita & I have our culinary differences. While we both love certain things, like Chinese food, chicken, turkey, steak, etc. she doesn't like the spicy stuff I like. I've never heard of onion pie but I'll have to ask her about it.

but you need those carbs because you are burning so many doing all that wonderful work!

I think I burn most of the calories going up and down the ladder to stir the pot ... of course I'm sure you know all about stirring the pot. ;)

Re: HA
That's true ... and I didn't have any garlic bread with it so I'm okay. :)
