One apology down and about 999 to go.

Yep, author/reporter/historian Bob Woodward of Watergate fame, no friend of conservatives, got Joe Scarborough to admit he and others have been misrepresenting a comment by Bob McConnel quote a thousand times over the years.

The quote?

Bob McConnel was reported as simply saying:

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

This is the context of what McConnel said in an interview with the National Journal:

NATIONAL JOURNAL: You’ve been studying the history of presidents who lost part or all of Congress in their first term. Why?

SENATOR MITCH MCCONNELL (R-KENTUCKY): In the last 100 years, three presidents suffered big defeats in Congress in their first term and then won reelection: Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, and the most recent example, Bill Clinton. I read a lot of history anyway, but I am trying to apply those lessons to current situations in hopes of not making the same mistakes.

NJ: What have you learned?

McConnell: After 1994, the public had the impression we Republicans overpromised and underdelivered. We suffered from some degree of hubris and acted as if the president was irrelevant and we would roll over him. By the summer of 1995, he was already on the way to being reelected, and we were hanging on for our lives.

NJ: What does this mean now?

McConnell: We need to be honest with the public. This election is about them, not us. And we need to treat this election as the first step in retaking the government. We need to say to everyone on Election Day, “Those of you who helped make this a good day, you need to go out and help us finish the job.”

NJ: What’s the job?

McConnell: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.

NJ: Does that mean endless, or at least frequent, confrontation with the president?

McConnell: If President Obama does a Clintonian backflip, if he’s willing to meet us halfway on some of the biggest issues, it’s not inappropriate for us to do business with him.

NJ: What are the big issues?

McConnell: It is possible the president’s advisers will tell him he has to do something to get right with the public on his levels of spending and [on] lowering the national debt. If he were to heed that advice, he would, I image, [sic] find more support among our conference than he would among some in the Senate in his own party.

Got that?

"I don’t want the president to fail; I want him to change. So, we’ll see. The next move is going to be up to him."

You can read the entire interview here ... or, if you're a baloney-eating liberal, you can just ignore it and repeat the claim as liberals usually do again and again and ignore the truth.

Kind of like the left does, including their leaders, when claiming Tea Party Patriots and other conservatives are racists, that Sarah Palin is a dim-witted Bible-thumping fascist who said she could see Russia from her porch, that Republicans want wat people to be poor so rich people can pay lower taxes, that you can drill in every square inch of land and offshore in America and not produce enough oil, gas, coal, etc. to become energy independent.

Like when they claimed Obamacare would cut costs and insurance rates, that elective abortions wouldn't be funded, that the program would total about $900 billion and CUT THE DEFICIT, that it does NOT take $716 billion out od MediCare, that it would not demand rationing, that you could keep your insurance if you like it, that bureaucrats would not be dictating who gets what ...

When they now claim there's no such thing as Isamic extremism, that the attacks and murders at our embassies were not planned and not against US, that Islam is a tolerant religion that respects women and the rights of others, that there was no "actionable intelligence" pointing to danger on the 11th anniversary of 9-11 ...

I could go on and on but all you have to do is go back and read 5 years of my LJ posts to get a tiny sense of how liberals feed you baloney.

Or just look at the news and the liberal nmedia spin and what you see and hear with your "lying eyes and ears".

But you won't do that - I know.

It's much easier to feed baloney than it is to clean out your refrigerator on throw yours in the garbage. It's been neatly packaged and marketed for use by the overwhelming power of the media cartel.

And it can be much more effective than facts because people are not interested in learning what goes into making baloney ... and because propaganda works.
