Guilt by association

In my user bio, I mention how my brain is constantly bombarded with stimuli and how they cause me to make all kinds of associations and, sometimes, get insights into the way things are. I have to be careful, because people can get tired of behavior like that and, although I enjoy the experience, sometimes it drains me to.

So, for the ones who might still be interested in my little collection of tools and implements from Sunday's pic, this is why they reminded me of you.

1) Broom (straw) - you're as natural and straightforward as can be, made for daily use and hard to get rid of. You're not obsessed with anything (including keeping an immaculate house), you can take it or leave it. You've been known to spring into dance. You usually make a little noise if pushed into a corner, and have been known to sweep people off their feet.

2) Hammer - Oh, my! You feel nice when held, are very balanced, smooth, long-lasting, but have a very hard head. You have a lot of potential in you and once your inertia is put into motion, your effect can be quick and sure. You are articulate and get to the point easily when in concert with the right person. You ain't got a thing if you ain't got that swing.

3) Utility knife with a fresh blade - Oh you're quick and sharp and witty. You can get to the heart of things without tearing them asunder, but you're retractable and try to keep from hurting people whenever possible. Sometimes you leave yourself open and "slash out" because you often feel pain yourself. You don't really mean to hurt anyone, of course. I think you're keen.

4) Power extension cord - You often emit sparks and things tend to move quickly when you're around. You're flexible and can fit in in the most unusual places. Your feeling of importance comes from transferring the energy of others, however, and getting them to accomplish great things. Sometimes you wish you weren't quite so insulated from things. Plugged into the correct source, however, you're indispensable, most unselfish, and a joy to have around.

5) Folding wooden tape measure - You are a stargazer, putting up your measuring stick as you contemplate the heavens, the stars, time, space, nothingness, and emptiness. You are so aware, sometimes painfully so. Thankfully, you are a fold-up ruler, and you recognize the importance of just eyeballing things once in a while, and trusting in your own feelings and your instincts. There is poetry inside each calibration of your very being.

6) Power drill - You're not afraid to get sawdust in your hair and you sing a song nature is startled by but, nevertheless, always stops to listen to. Some say you whine too much, but we know you just want things right. You have imagination and drive and nothing is too tough for you to tackle. Bit by bit, you look at things that have potential, remove the obstacles that you know are unnecessary, and then allow their spaces to be filled with the foundations for a new purpose. Sometimes you do too much, but never too little.

So that's my little exercise in association. Some of you may be combinations of two or three or four or more of these. Anyone see a little of themselves here? I do. But you can't trust me, for in many ways, I actually know nothing at all.
